Eat to the Beat was on site at Television Centre for nine weeks, keeping cast, crew and production teams fuelled backstage for a brand-new Saturday night comedy show. Sustainability was on the menu throughout.
During the run, we worked with Musically Fed, a non-profit organisation that mobilises the music industry in the fight against hunger, to ensure surplus food reached people who needed it most. Across the series, donations included freshly prepared dishes such as vegetable rice, chicken supreme, veggie gratin, stuffed peppers, gnocchi, tofu with katsu sauce, lamb hotpot, pies, muffins and desserts. In one week alone, the donated food helped feed 42 families.
Reducing food waste was just one part of a wider sustainable approach. We also supported lower-impact menu planning through beef-free menus and implementing nudging, this is where vegan and vegetarian dishes are featured first on menu boards and at the front of the servery to encourage more sustainable food choices.
The production recognised the importance of community-led sustainability, highlighting the donation of leftover catering to local organisations as a way to support those in need while preventing good food from going to waste.
